Workplace Two
refurbishment project of an existing building, making the new space a national hub.
The design of this 4,350 m2, single floor plate, in central London was inspired by the client’s brand and need to create a sense of community in the workplace.
The project’s design phase ran for about 6 months with design engagement being a key part of the process and overall success of the project.
The key concept of the design was formed around spaces of connectness, supplemented with more traditional work spaces like desks, offices and meeting rooms.
The design is flexible with an active but calming look and feel.
Two key aspects of concept design that will stand the test of time; the client’s brand and the building’s architecture.
The interior layout of this project was inspired by the core principle of transforming raw data into new opportunities.
When considering raw data in the context of the project, this translated to the base building architecture and elements we cannot change.
Transformation was developed through a set of rules of guiding principles like efficient circulation and maximising key external views.
New opportunities were created at the intersecting and overlapping of the defined principles. Destinations were formed in which collaborative working and a sense of community were the main focus.
The concept design of the space was supported by a workplace analysis and stratgic exercise.
We considered why the client’s staff want to go to the office and how each persona would use the space.
Each corner destination of the design has a different view.
This View is mirrored internally through pattern, colour and texture.
